Effective 18 August 2026 · Last updated 18 August 2026
The short version. The apps available today — including Daylark — have no account, no analytics, no ads and no trackers, and keep what you create on your own device. There is no server of ours holding your content, which means we cannot read it, sell it or lose it.
Some app built later may need an account or a server to do its job. Section 7 sets out exactly what has to be true before that happens, and it will never happen quietly inside an update to an app that didn't work that way yesterday.
Eden App Studio is the working name of an individual developer in New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada. It is not an incorporated company. For the purposes of data protection law, that individual is the data controller for the apps and site described here.
This policy covers the website at edenappstudio.com and the applications published under the Eden App Studio name, including Daylark, plus any app released later that doesn't publish its own policy.
TaskNode is published with its own brand, and its privacy policy at tasknode.ca/privacy governs that app.
These hold for everything we publish today and are the standard any future app has to meet:
Daylark is a day counter for Android. It has no account and no sign-in, and we operate no server that receives your content.
Daylark does not collect your name, email address, phone number, contacts or location. It contains no analytics SDK, no advertising SDK and no crash-reporting SDK. We do not know who you are, what you are counting, which screens you visit, or when you open the app.
Everything you create stays in the app's private storage on your device: your counts and their dates, notes and journal entries, photos you attach, your reason, check-ins, milestones, records and settings.
With automatic backup enabled (the Android default), your counts and notes are included in Android's own backup system, which is operated by Google and tied to your Google account. That data is encrypted by Google in transit and at rest and is not accessible to us. You can turn automatic backup off, or delete existing backups, in your Android settings at any time. Photos are excluded from automatic backup and remain only on your device unless you include them in a manual export.
You can export your data at any time, with or without photos. Exports are created on your device and saved where you choose; they are not transmitted to us. An exported file is not encrypted, so keep it somewhere you trust.
Milestone notifications are generated on your device by the app. They aren't scheduled or delivered by any server of ours, and their content is not transmitted anywhere.
The site is hosted by Netlify. Like any web host, Netlify processes standard request information — IP address, browser user-agent, requested page, timestamp — in order to deliver pages and protect against abuse. We do not run analytics, advertising or tracking scripts on this site, and it sets no tracking cookies.
Typography on this site is loaded from Google Fonts, which means your browser makes a request to Google when a page loads and Google receives your IP address as part of that request. No other information about you is sent.
Email to our support address is delivered through a forwarding provider (ImprovMX) into a Google Workspace/Gmail mailbox. If you write to us, we keep your message only as long as needed to help you, and delete it after the matter is resolved or after 90 days of inactivity, whichever comes first. We never add people who contact support to a mailing list.
Our apps are free to install; some features are paid. All payments are processed by Google Play or the Apple App Store, and purchase status may be managed for us by RevenueCat. We never see or store your card number, billing address or payment details.
Where RevenueCat is used, it receives a randomly generated anonymous app-user identifier and your purchase status. It does not receive your name, email address, or anything you created in the app.
Every permission is optional, used only for the feature it names, and revocable at any time in your device settings. Daylark asks for:
Daylark does not request location, contacts, microphone or camera-recording permissions. Where a different app needs a permission Daylark doesn't — for example location for a place-based feature — that app's store listing and this policy will say what it's for before you're asked.
No app we publish today has an account, and none of them send your content to a server we run. Some things worth building later — syncing across your devices, for instance — can't be done without one. Rather than leave that vague, here is what we commit to before any app of ours stores your content on a server or offers you an account:
Until such an app exists, this section describes a standard, not a practice.
Our apps are general-purpose tools intended for adults, and are not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Since the apps available today collect no personal information from anyone, this holds by design. If you believe a child has sent us personal information by email, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
Because your content lives on your device, you control it completely: you can edit or delete anything at any time, and uninstalling an app removes its local data permanently. Daylark keeps deleted items in an archive for 30 days so you can recover a mistake, after which they're gone for good.
We hold no remote copy and therefore cannot restore anything you delete. Support emails are deleted as described in section 4. Backups held by Google under Android's backup system are governed by Google's own retention policy and your Android settings.
Your content is protected on your device by the operating system's app sandbox, plus whatever device encryption and screen lock you have enabled — we strongly recommend using both. Network requests our apps or this site make use encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS). Because we hold no copy of your content, there is no database of ours that could be breached and expose it.
You already hold, directly and without asking us, the rights that data-protection law exists to guarantee: you can read, correct, export and permanently delete everything the apps hold, at any time, from your own device.
Where processing does occur, our legal bases are your consent (for optional device permissions), performance of a contract (providing paid features you bought), and legitimate interests (operating and securing the apps and site). You may withdraw consent at any time by revoking a permission in device settings. You have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection, and the right to complain to your local supervisory authority.
We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined, and have not done so in the preceding twelve months. We do not engage in cross-context behavioural advertising.
You may contact us with any privacy question, request or complaint, and you may escalate to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
To exercise any right, email us — there's no form and no account to log into.
The third parties listed below may process requests on servers outside your country, including in the United States, under their own safeguards. Your app content itself is not transferred anywhere by us, because we never receive it.
Each operates under its own privacy policy. If a future app adds hosting, authentication or sync providers, they'll be added to this list before they start handling anything.
If this policy changes, the revised version is posted here with a new “last updated” date. Material changes — especially any that expand what an app collects — take effect on posting and are announced in-app and in the app's release notes. We keep the substance readable rather than burying changes in legal language.
